If you're looking for something slightly spooky to do outside of Disney, check out US Ghost Tours. They offer tours in cities all over the United States and take you through some of the most haunted locations in the area. It’s a fun activity that mixes local history with ghostly stories along the way!

We took the tour in Portsmouth, NH, but there are also locations in Florida if you're looking to add a non-Disney activity to your trip. (Because even the most dedicated Disney fans occasionally leave the parks… occasionally.)

For us, this was the perfect mud season activity here in New England. Let’s be honest New England already has those slightly eerie historic vibes, so a ghost tour just feels right.

Our tour started at 8 PM outside the Langdon House, where we met our guide. From there, we walked around town for about an hour. Along the way we learned some history of Portsmouth, along with the local lore and haunted stories tied to different buildings in the area. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, the stories were definitely entertaining!

The tour is family friendly, but I’d probably recommend it for older kids since some of the stories do lean a little on the spooky side. Nothing nightmare-inducing, but maybe not ideal right before bedtime for the youngest travelers.

Overall, it was a fun and different way to experience Portsmouth. If you enjoy history, ghost stories, or just wandering around a charming New England town at night, this tour is definitely worth checking out. Even if you don’t believe in ghosts, the stories and history alone make it entertaining.

And who knows… maybe you’ll experience something a little spooky along the way. We didn’t see any ghosts on our tour, but I also didn’t exactly look too closely into the dark alleyways either. Some mysteries are better left unsolved.

Tour beings here outside, kind of spooky vibes.

Us with our EMF detectors, which means in theory there are ghosts there by when it lights up like this! Spooky!!
